From our two fully equipped outpatient surgery centers which feature the latest in laser technology to our Prostate Centers which feature high definition RapidArc Radiotherapy, along with cone beam CAT scanning for pinpoint tumor localization during treatment, we spare no expense. As far as our experts, we have gone to great lengths to recruit only the finest in the various subspecialty areas of Urology.
Our patient base is broad. Whether you are a middle-age woman with bladder control problems or a slightly older man with difficulty sleeping due to multiple trips to the bathroom during the night, our physicians and staff are prepared to evaluate and treat the underlying disorder. Our philosophy involves starting with a thorough interview of the patient and his or her symptoms, followed by appropriate tests when indicated. Using a multifaceted approach, we start with the least invasive treatments first. Often times, simple changes in diet and exercise make a big difference. We then use medical therapy, biofeedback and when necessary, the latest advances in minimally invasive surgery to correct the problem. Our physicians meet at a weekly video conference between all of our locations to review complex cases and to share treatment ideas. This policy which has been in place for over 12 years allows each of our patients to draw from the knowledge and experience of our entire team of experts. In addition, we often refer patients within the group to the physician who is best equipped and experienced to treat a particular condition.
This team approach to medical care extends to our area hospitals where we founded and continue to enjoy our world-renowned da Vinci robotic surgery program. After being the first group to offer robotic prostatectomy in Southwest Florida in 2005, and now over 1500 cases, Dr’s. Figlesthaler, D’Angelo and our team now use this technology for many different surgeries, including kidney, adrenal and bladder cancer as well as reconstructive surgery of the bladder, kidneys and female pelvic organs. We now have da Vinci surgical robots at three out of four area hospitals with fully trained and cross-trained support staff.
Clinical research is a huge part of our organization. We have over a dozen active clinical trials ongoing as well as numerous surgical device trials. Dr. Franco is our clinical research director and has helped us to attract both national and international attention as we are often the "go to" group for research and development with companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, etc. Having such trials on site allows us to offer our patients medications and treatments that may not yet be available to the general medical community. We have a clinical research team available around the clock to take questions and to respond to concerns. Our treatments for all conditions are heavily focused on producing favorable outcomes, which is why we strive to make the full spectrum of treatments available to our patients for all of the various urological disorders.
